Mixes evenly from beginning to finish, all the feed is kept in the ration, no leaf loss. Tub grinders break and lose a lot of leaves. We have gained 3 liters of milk per cow per day and increased the butterfat. A balanced ration makes it easy to maintain body weight on cows. TMR allows me to mix a ration for dry cows and heifers for up to two days without mold or deterioration in the feed. This can't be done without 8% to 10% dry rations in the feed. The mixers pay for itself in 3 years on a 100-cow herd. It saves me three machines: feeder, mixer and cutter. We were able to save about five high producing cows which couldn't handle the previous fluctuation of the feed.
